LGAT President Mayor Mick Tucker today joined the Minister for Local Government, the Honorable Nic Street, to announce the latest recipients of our Open Spaces Grant Program.

Under Round 2, nine Tasmanian councils will share in $2,025,600 million of funding to make improvements or deliver new projects across the state that support active living and the wellbeing of their communities. These projects include:

  • Bike tracks and trails
  • Parks and playgrounds
  • Disc golf course
  • Solar lighting
  • A dementia friendly garden.

The successful projects will deliver more than $6 million in infrastructure in all regions of the state.

Mick Tucker reiterated the important role councils play in enabling Tasmanians to live healthier lives.

“The combined investment of councils and the State Government from this program will make a significant contribution to the health and wellbeing of the communities involved,” Mayor Tucker said.

We look forward to seeing these key infrastructure projects being enjoyed by local communities in the future.
