Mick Tucker elected Vice President of Australian Local Government Association
Local Government Association of Tasmania (LGAT) President Mick Tucker has been elected Vice President of the Australian Local Government Association (ALGA).
The appointment will see Mick take on a key national leadership role, representing local government and helping to ensure the priorities and challenges facing councils across Australia are heard at the national level.
It comes at an important time for the sector, with councils continuing to advocate for sustainable funding and greater recognition of the essential infrastructure and services they provide to communities. Mick has recently been representing Tasmania’s councils nationally, including making the case for increased, predictable and untied Commonwealth funding.
Mick said he was incredibly honoured to be elected Vice President of ALGA.
"Local government is all about people and communities, and I’m really looking forward to working alongside local government leaders from across the country to make sure our collective voice is heard," Mick Tucker said.
For Mick, the position also creates another opportunity to bring Tasmania’s local government perspective to the national stage.
"Our councils do an incredible job for their communities, often with limited resources, and I’ll make sure the experiences and ideas coming out of Tasmania continue to be part of the national conversation," Mick Tucker said.
