Media Release - LGAT congratulates Mayor Paula Wriedt on appointment as TasCOSS CEO
The Local Government Association of Tasmania (LGAT) congratulates Mayor Paula Wriedt on her appointment as the new Chief Executive Officer of the Tasmanian Council of Social Service (TasCOSS), and thanks her for her outstanding contribution to local government and to LGAT.
LGAT President Mayor Mick Tucker said Paula has been a highly respected and influential leader within the local government sector, bringing a strong commitment to community wellbeing, constructive advocacy, and respectful public discourse.
“Mayor Wriedt has made a significant contribution to local government in Tasmania and to LGAT during her time as Mayor and has been a valued member of our national local government body, the Australian Local Government Association,” Mayor Tucker said.
“In particular, we acknowledge Mayor Wriedt’s leadership of the Lift the Tone campaign, which LGAT ran last year to promote respectful conduct, civility and constructive engagement with local government.
“Her leadership on this issue helped set an important benchmark for behaviour within and towards the sector and reinforced the standards in public debate.
“Paula’s appointment to lead TasCOSS is a significant gain for the social services sector. Her experience in local government, deep understanding of community issues, and proven ability to lead complex and sometimes difficult conversations will serve the community sector well.”
