Tasmanian Municipal Standards - Specifications and Standard Drawings

The Tasmanian Municipal Standards consist of two complementary documents: the Specifications and the Standard Drawings. These documents must be read together and may be referenced in development permits or other compliance documents when setting the development standards required. For questions about applying these documents to your development, contact your council engineers in the first instance.

Subdivision Guidelines

These guidelines provide information on the minimum standards required by participating Tasmanian Councils for the design and construction of roads and utilities as per the relevant statutory requirements (including Drains Act 1954 and Local Government Act Highways 1982). Additionally this document outlines the process to be followed during the construction of civil works; audit inspections, practical completion of works, defects liability period and final take-over of the roads and civil works. 

It is intended that this guide be used by developers, construction contractors, design/supervising engineers as well as Council officers and senior management. Subdivision Guidelines Oct 2013(1123 kb)

Stormwater System Management Planning - A Guide for Local Government in Tasmania- September 2016

The purpose of this document is to provide guidance to Local Government within Tasmania on meeting the requirements of the Urban Drainage Act 2013, and to propose a framework for the development of Stormwater System Plans (SSMP's) for urban catchments within the State.
