Community Health and Wellbeing Plan Resources
Local Government Community Health and Well Being Project
Local Government plays a key role in providing for the health and wellbeing of Tasmanian communities. LGAT works to improve awareness and understanding that role by:
- Advocating regarding the essential role councils play in improving Tasmanian’s health outcomes
- Promoting understanding about the best ways to support that essential role
A Community Health and Wellbeing Plan is a great way to identify community needs and developing a plan for addressing them. Here are a range of documents that may be useful for councils considering developing a Community Health and Wellbeing Plan.
Examples of Health and Wellbeing Plans from Tasmanian councils
Tracey Bradley from Waratah-Wynyard and Circular Head Council describes the development of their Community Health and Wellbeing Plan.
Tracey describes the practical steps in developing a plan focussed directly on making positive differences to people in the local community. The process she outlines ensures that the plan is a living document identifying the most important issues and actions tailored to specific communities.
Victorian Resources
Victorian Councils are required to develop Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan. The Victorian Department of Health created this guide outlining the process for developing a plan. Part two of the document provides useful steps that could be used by Tasmanian councils.
Victorian Guide to municipal public health and wellbeing planning
VicHealth developed a series of Local Government action guides which may also be useful in developing a Community Health and Wellbeing Plan.
