In July, Mathew Healey Director, Policy and Sector Performance, State Government will be joining us to discuss: Creating a Contemporary Regulatory Environment. How the Local Government Division engages with Local Government on both legislative and non-legislative reforms focused on continuous sector improvement.

Mathew Healey has close to 25 years’ experience in public administration at the State and Commonwealth level, including as a former Director of Local Government.  Mathew has spent the last seven years leading a range of major projects, including the 2013 Bushfire Recovery Program, Royal Hobart Hospital Redevelopment Rescue Taskforce, the development of the State’s White Paper on Health and Strong Families, Safe Kids, the redesign of the State’s Child Safety System.  Most recently, Mathew has supported the recovery efforts within the COVID-19 State Control Centre.

Mathew has taken up the position of Director, Policy and Sector Performance (Local Government), which incorporates all of the non-statutory roles of the previous Director of Local Government position.  The role continues to support the administration of compliance-related provisions of the Act, but is heavily focussed on the broader performance monitoring and improvement, policy and innovation related work of the Local Government Division.
