Natural Resource ManagementNatural resource management forms a part of many council operations, from roadside weed control to stormwater management. In many cases, the natural resource management activities of councils overlap or complement the activities of other natural resource managers, and often require collaboration with other councils, community groups, or other stakeholders. The Australian Government's Natural Resource Management (NRM) Program and Funding ended in 2008 when the Caring for Our Country Program was introduced. Australian Government Caring for our Country ProgramIn its first five years (from July 2008 to June 2013), the Australian Government will invest over $2 billion through Caring for our Country to secure improved strategic outcomes across six national priority areas:
Caring for our Country will be delivered in partnership with regional natural resource management groups, local, state and territory governments, Indigenous groups, industry bodies, land managers, landcare groups and other community groups, and non-government organisations. An annual Business Plan will seek investment proposals that contribute to the delivery of Caring for our Country targets. If you wish to submit an investment proposal for a project, you should read the annual business plan and visit the Caring for our Country business plan web pages for information about the requirements for submissions: For further information on the Australian Government Caring for our Country program and Business Plan investment proposals visit http://www.nrm.gov.au/
