The following training is targeted at Council managers and officers.  Elected Members are also welcome to participate.  The professional development is divided into two distinct categories - Strategic Local Government Development and General Professional Skills.  The suite of offerings includes regional sessions (where dates are provided), and online offerings identified by the (e).

Induction - Behavioural Policies (e)

This online training video on behaviour policies will provide new and existing staff with an overview of the common council behavioural policies.  This session will be followed up by an electronic questionnaire about policies as part of the induction which require employees to demonstrate comprehension of the workplace behaviour policies.

Work Health and Safety (e)

This online module has a duration of approximately 30 minutes. It is a Local Government focused training and introduces WH&S, the legal framework and  basic knowledge of risk management.  It is based on the harmonisation of the legislation that was introduced in 2013.

Cost:   $29.00 (excl GST) per registration if 1-5 registrations are received
  $25.00 (excl GST) per registration if 5 or more registrations are received

General and Professional Skills

 

Fire Hazard Abatement Training

This course is intended to provide officers in local councils that have responsibility for Fire Hazards and Abatement with the skills required to implement the requirements under the Act. The training will include: 

  • The legislative framework and policy
  • Introduction to Emergency Risk Management
  • Process, authorisations and documentation for notices.
  • Site assessment including analysing the site, recording the findings and making recommendations and conclusions.
