Local Government supports a safe and secure environment for its communities.
Local Government recognises that law enforcement and responding to criminal offences is the role of the Police Service. Councils will work in cooperation with the Police Service to address community safety issues.
Local Government will work with the State Government and all sectors of the community to assist with the identification of issues of local concern and, where appropriate, negotiate appropriate responses that contribute to a sense of safety and well-being. Local Government will actively seek to engage stakeholders across levels of planning and development to contribute to the construction of communities in which people feel safe.
Local Government will consider community safety issues and concerns as part of the planning process.
Local Government will lobby the State Government to continue to resource Community Crime Prevention Partnerships.
