Consultation
The Association is committed to consulting with the State Government through the Communication and Consultation Partnership Agreement in the development of policies and legislation that affect Local Government.
Legislation
In December 2008, The General Management Committee (GMC) agreed the following process:
- Legislation which is clearly inconsequential is dealt with by the LGAT Policy Director in consultation with the CEO.
- If there is ambiguity LGAT will make informal contact with 1 or more members of the Legislation Committee (appointed by GMC) for advice.
- Where legislation is clearly significant, LGAT will consult with councils as appropriate (using for example, email, written correspondence, workshops and so on).
- Key legislative issues will be reported to GMC at least bi-annually. This includes issues put forward by councils.
