Local Laws Templates

Website currently under Review therefor some templates and links may not be available.

Tasmanian council websites have been enhanced through the delivery of 20 Local Laws templates which provide consistent and plain-language interpretations of local laws, policies and guidelines.

Master templates can be used by councils to provide information about some of their most 'frequently asked questions' about council services. Over 90 are published on council websites.

For Councils

If you wish to include a Local Law template on your website, you can make a text copy of any master template, however, each template requires some 'local practice' to be inserted and until this is done, the document should not be loaded onto a website. A copy which includes your local practice should also be lodged with LGAT.

Because of the dynamic nature of legislation, a table of links for each template has been compiled. Each week this is updated with any broken links to that legislation shown in red. The table can be easily accessed by clicking here.

You will then need to update your own template accordingly.

A copy of the Disclaimer must be placed on your website and be linked to the short Disclaimer Statement which heads up every FAQ template.

Additionally, the Privacy statement should also appear on your website.

The following is a complete list of templates:
